Nail Fungus Symptoms

With this test, you find out quickly if you have nail fungus before you begin a long treatment. If you have symptoms of thickened and discolored nails or nails that crumble, then it could be nail fungus. Nail fungus is common and occurs in about 10% of the adult population in Sweden. Keep in mind that it is common for nail fungus to return. You should not take the sample during treatment and at earliest, 4 weeks after the end of treatment.

What is being tested? The test shows the most common species of filamentous fungi that occur in nail fungus. The species Trichophyton rubrum accounts for most of the infections, but the test also shows other species within the genera Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton.
